Boxing, skating and splashing

Ridgecrest Park, Webster

I feel almost as though I cheated a bit in my exploration of this park. Ridgecrest is another one of my hometown parks, which I ride through on my bike pretty much every weekend when I head to the village of Webster and back. So this time, I stopped, pulled out my cell phone and snapped some photos.

Voilà! One more park down!

Ridgecrest Park is located on Ebner Drive, off of Ridge Road just west of the village of Webster. It can also be accessed at the west end of Sanford Street when the Firemen's Carnival isn't in town. At one time the building on the Ridgecrest property was a school, and then the town's rec center. The building itself now houses another business, but the rest of the property is still dedicated to sports, including a few facilities I have not seen anywhere else yet in my travels.

Ridgecrest Park has the standard basketball court, playground, and a baseball field. But it also has a box lacrosse rink and a very nice skate park for skateboarders and in-line skaters. The park also features a small spray park for the kids to play in on hot summer days. At one time it was the only spray park in Webster, until a much larger one was built at the First Responders Park next to the Webster Recreation Center.

There are no picnic tables or grills or anything of the sort, but this is a great place close to the village for moms to bring their kids during the summer; the little ones can get slide down the back of a whale while the older kids can go to the skate park or use the lacrosse rink.

The gallery below show the skate park, box lacrosse rink, playground, basketball court and the baseball field.

and BMX bikers. A mix of ramps, poles and other amenities allow for beginners and experts to enjoy the park. The park is open dawn to dusk...
